Asus ROG Phone 5 appears on Geekbench with 16GB RAM and Snapdragon 888

The arrival of the ASUS ROG Phone 5 may not be far away as it was recently certified by the TENAA and 3C authorities of China. The ROG Phone 5 was spotted on Geekbench last December with 8GB RAM. On Geekbench, the ASUS_I005DA (model number of ASUS ROG Phone 5) smartphone has appeared with Snapdragon 888 mobile platform. The SoC which is mentioned with its ‘Lahaina’ codename is coupled with 16 GB of RAM.

 Now its 16GB RAM variant popped up on the benchmark database, achieving 1,131 and 3,729 points in the single and multi-core tests, respectively, which is higher than what the 8GB RAM model scored.

The 16GB version also runs Android 11 and has a Snapdragon 888 SoC at the helm. Geekbench doesn’t divulge any other specs of the ROG Phone 5, but TENAA revealed the smartphone will pack a dual-cell 6,000 mAh battery, 3C certification revealed that it could be arriving with support for 65W rapid charging. A massive display of 6.78″ AMOLED screen, and support for 5G networks. It could be featuring an OLED panel with support for a high refresh rate.

The images of the Asus ROG Phone 5 that have appeared so far suggests that it is fitted with a secondary display on its back. The images also suggest that the Taiwanese company has partnered with Tencent Games to offered an optimized gaming experience on the ROG Phone 5. It is expected to feature a 64-megapixel triple camera system.

We still don’t have the official launch date of the Asus ROG Phone 5, but a teaser poster last month suggested the unveiling will take place between end-March and mid-April this year.
